Life will not be endless days of romantic walks on the beach! If reality has not already hit ye like a cannon blast, get prepared, it be comin' at ye like a hurricane!

First and foremost, if ye don't hold to any form of ultimate standard, ye be sailin' without a compass. Ye need a standard to guide ye. If there be no standard, there be no such thing as right and wrong. Then the entire world would be chaos. But if ye accept that the creator inspired scriptures to be a guide for mankind regardin' right and wrong, then yer course be set. He made man the head of the house, entrustin' him with the duty of providin' for his kin. He didn't say ye should provide for the family only if yer wife gives ye her blessing, or permission. If ye find yer work can't meet yer family's needs, then it be yer duty to chart a new course. Ye'll answer for it, mark me words. But mind ye, treat yer wife with love and respect as the Good Book commands. Even if ye don't believe in the hereafter, it just be good sense to do what will give ye the best result. Aye? Sit down with her, share yer thoughts, make her part of the decision. Women like to be involved, they do. Make 'em feel valued, and they'll stand by ye through thick and thin.

Some men, when their ventures falter, blame their wives. They be sayin', "Me wife won't let me." Arrrr! But I tell ye, a true man takes charge of his destiny. Yet, if a wife refuses to stand by her man, then it falls to him to step up. Cast aside the lace, don yer trousers, and get to work. Women, they come around when they see results and feel the change in the air.

If ye want support, ye gotta earn it. Face yer fears, show yer strength. Courage turns heads, strength commands respect. Life be havin' enough challenges. To survive ye must fight together, not against each other.

If ye want respect, ye gotta rise above the ordinary. Dogs can eat, sleep, and play fetch. Men, they dream, they plan, they act. Prove ye're more than an animal, by doin' more than animals do.

A wife should make her home a haven, not a den of dread. And a husband, he should treat his wife with kindness, not unleash his troubles upon her every day when he comes home. Listen to each other, show interest, give a hug. Make home a place worth comin' back to.

Be it a marriage, or a life aboard ship, each partner be havin' to give one hundred percent to keep it afloat. If ye thinks it be a fifty-fifty proposition, yer marriage will crash on the rocks. Husbands give it all ye got, wives give it all ye got.
